Elk Grove Soccer Cleat Drive

Elk Grove Soccer Cleat Drive

Elk Grove Soccer and our exclusive club sponsor, Mountain Mikes, located at 5010 Elk Grove Blvd, has teamed up to host a cleat drive! For the month of Febuary, bring in your used or new cleats to Mountain Mikes and receive 20% off of any large pizza. At the end of the month, these cleats will be donated to Friends of Yimbo.
 

Friends of Yimbo is a registered Non Governmental Organization based in California with a focus in developmental work in Kenya, Africa.

Yimbo is a location in western Kenya, Africa where the majority of people are peasant farmers who live on a $1/day. Currently, Friends of Yimbo operates in 3 villages in Yimbo sub-county with an approximate population of 1200 people. The biggest issues in Yimbo are multiple and poverty driven including and not limited to lack of health care facilities, scarcity of water and illiteracy amongst others.

Thus, the program reflects the need to address these issues. These include education (scholarships, sports and capacity building); clean and safe water (wells and individual water tanks), micro-enterprise for women, water and health related programs (annual medical and dental clinics).

In the past, Elk Grove Soccer has donated 10 jerseys and 20 soccer balls to Muguna Primary School (MPS), Yimbo, a rural community in western Kenya. Now EGS jerseys are proudly worn in the rural community in Kenya. Unfortunately, due to lack of funding, the children sometimes play barefoot or with tennis shoes since they are unable to afford soccer cleats. As a club, with the help of Mountain Mikes, we are seeking new or used soccer cleats to send overseas to these dynamic children.

To celebrate our partnership with Kids Care Dental & Orthodontics, we’re teaming up to bring healthy, giggly smiles to all players and families.

In celebration Kids Care Dental is offering a special fundraiser to benefit Elk Grove Soccer and its families by offering $250 off Invisalign or Braces for each new patient who starts orthodontic treatment through the months of January – March and will donate $250 per patient to support local youth soccer.

This fundraiser will not only benefit the Elk Grove Soccer community but it will also ensure players are well on their way to a stunning array of beautiful, newscaster-straight teeth and excellent oral health.
