Frequently asked questions

Recreation Soccer

We have tried our best to think of every question, if we missed one, please let us know!

Elk Grove Soccer creates teams in all age groups, without skipping years, through age 11 (Under 12) .  U9, U10, U11, U12 will all be created within general areas of Elk Grove. U13/U14 (age 12/13) are combined– we refer to it in general as “Middle School”.

Our older group, U16/U19 (referred to as “High School”) is typically smaller, so we have combined them for local play. Depending on the number of coaches available, we hope to keep it local. It’s possible we may need to put some teams in the Sacramento region recreation playing league.

We allow our players to stay with the same coach each year. Again, it all depends upon who registers timely.  Players who register late will be placed on teams that have space.  One of the exceptions would be if your team in the past, was a mixed of younger and older players, and your coach decides to coach the younger age group.  The older age children could not play with that team because they would be too old.  Players can play up, but they cannot play down into a younger age group.

Yes, we take in people from all across the area.   The Cosumnes CSD requires us to turn in proof of residency to make sure we reach their threash-hold of residents living inside their service area.  Don’t worry if you don’t live in the city limits.

Yes!  We are always looking for coaches.   Our coaches will be screened with background checks and will take some simple online safety courses.   We also provide education and equipment.  Coaching is a rewarding and fun experience– and you choose the practice times and can make game requests if you have Saturday conflicts.   In addition, if you have two children and want to coach both, we will give you priority for practices and make sure your schedule does not conflict.

Our coaches are volunteer coaches who select the days, times, and locations of practice.  Typically teams will practice on Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu, and either from 5:00-6:30 or 6:30-8:00.  Most teams are built based on where kids live, so the coach will likely pick and area close to your home, depending on when you register.   If you live outside of Elk Grove, we will do our best to place you as close as possible.

Each year, it’s not usual for a coach not to return for a variety of reasons.  The players, however can stay together if they so desire.  Our age group coordinators are working diligently to find coaches to replace those coaches who are not returning.

If this is your first time playing at Elk Grove Soccer and you do not have a uniform, you need to purchase a uniform to play in games. As you move through the age groups, you only have to buy a uniform if your uniform from last year doesn’t fit. Our players can use that uniform until they outgrow it. They can buy a new one from us or trade with their friends easily due to the fact that we have branded our uniforms and logo throughout Elk Grove with the same home and away kits.  To purchase a new uniform and pay, go to – https://store.elkgrovesoccer.com/. For any questions regarding uniforms, please contact Patsy Cosenza at pcosenza@elkgrovesoccer.com

Yes we do.  Our program is called TOPS Soccer.  It’s for children with disabilities, including those with physical supports and wheelchairs.  Teams are put together based on ability, not by age.  It’s a wonderful program.  We provided players with Buddies, who help them play the game.
