Doug Mattos has proudly been involved with Elk Grove Soccer for over 13 years serving the members; since 2010 with Rancho Murieta soccer in positions such as Coach, Coach’s Coordinator, Fields & Equipment Coordinator, and his current role as manager for the program. Since 2014, he has served on the Elk Grove Soccer Board and his current duties are involved with Coaches Disciplinary Policy and Review and being an Age Group Coordinator. All of his volunteer time and efforts involved with Elk Grove Soccer focuses on supporting the best soccer experience for players, parents, referees, and coaches.

I am a proud member of the Elk Grove Soccer (EGS) Community with two teenagers who have enjoyed their experience playing for the club. I have been a volunteer coach with EGS for about 10 years and served on the board the past 4 years as an at-large board member where my duties include volunteer age group coordinator, acting as a liaison for the league with coaches and players’ families. I am dedicated to ensuring EGS welcomes new and innovative perspectives. I believe any child in our community should have an opportunity to play soccer regardless of their skill level or financial status.
This summer I enjoyed volunteering with Street Soccer USA for the Homeless World Cup where I saw how communities around the world are using soccer to teach teamwork and strengthen relationships. I grew up in Rancho Cordova playing soccer and refereeing. I was fortunate to have wonderful volunteer coaches and teammates show me that individually we are one small piece, but together we are part of something bigger and greater – a team. Those experiences led me to the opportunity to try soccer at the collegiate level at CSU Sacramento, and also start my volunteer coaching career in the American River Youth Soccer League. I have benefited from soccer and I hope for the chance to continue to pay it forward.
When not involved with soccer, I am working as a Crime Analyst for the State of California.
Andrew Donnery
Andrew Donnery has extensive soccer experience as a player and directing coaching activities both in England and the United States. Donnery has worked with several U.S. organizations, including the Cape Fear Soccer Association, the Wilmington Hammerheads professional team, and Coastal Carolina Soccer Camps, and has consulted and presented to over 70 organizations and 100-plus conferences in the U.S., United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia.
He has also functioned as a coach educator and instructor for the United States Soccer Federation and worked with the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association as a member of its Olympic Development Staff. He has served as a committee member with the NCYSA Academy Committee and the NCYSA Coach Educators Committee. Donnery obtained a bachelor’s degree in applied psychology from Liverpool John Moore’s University and has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Liverpool.
He holds numerous coaching qualifications, including the following: UEFA A License, US “A” License, UEFA International Coaching License, UEFA 12-16 Youth License, UEFA 17-21 Youth License, US National Youth License, US Director of Coaching Diploma, Premier License, Master Coach Diploma, Director of Coaching Diploma and the English FA Academy Manager’s License. Donnery also authored a book, Let the Kids Play, designed to put the fun back in the game with a collection of enjoyable, stimulating and developmentally appropriate exercises for young players.
Over the years, he has placed players into Division I college programs, state and regional Olympic Development Programs, and the U.S national team. Donnery served as the state ODP director for Cal North and designed the third largest league in the country. He currently directs the United Soccer Coaches Director of Coaching Diploma and co-authored the University of Delaware Master Coach and Leaders course. In 2014, he was appointed as a technical advisor to Bermuda FA Academy and coached the U17 Bermuda FA team. Donnery is currently the CEO of Elk Grove Soccer and the Master Coach and Soccer Leader of the Master Coach Program at the University of Delaware. In recent years, he has been working with the US Olympic Committee in developing Olympic sports in developing countries and has worked with over 70 organizations around the world and presented in over 100 conferences.
